2014 Mercedes Sprinter Breaks Cover
Mercedes-Benz is a pioneer in the Euro-style van market with its Sprinter. The Sprinter van has now been revised for the first time since 2006 to be more safer, eco-friendly and economical.

The new Sprinter boasts five new safety systems namely Crosswind Assist, which is a standard equipment, optional features like Collision Prevention Assist and Blind Spot Assist. Other new features include Highbeam Assist and Lane Keeping Assist.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz has lowered the chassis which improves the van’s drag coefficient to offer better handling. With the help of optimized powertrain, longer axle ratio and Blue Efficiency Plus package the fuel consumption has been significantly improved as well. It delivers an impressive fuel economy of 15.87kpl in the combined NEDC (New European Driving Cylcle).

The revised grille is more vertical, sticking to the current design trend of Mercedes-Benz. The rugged looking van has acquired changes to the headlights which are now more angular. The new hood is higher and  the rear could very well be recognized with its double-segmented taillights.

As for the diesel engines, the performance has remained unchanged with 2.1 litre four cyclinder and 3.0 litre six cylinder units powering out in the range of 95hp to 190hp.

The 1.8L direct injection supercharged four-pot petrol engine generates 156hp and is mated to a ECO-Gear six-speed manual transmission or 7G-TRONIC PLUS seven-speed automatic transmission with a lock-up clutch. The engine is also available in a natural gas variant with the same performance. All the engines comply to the Euro VI emissions standard.

Available for order in the beginning of June 2013, first deliveries for the new Sprinter will begin in September.
