The year 2013 would see the model progressing to its second generation. The vehicle has started testing in Europe and here is a nice rendering of the upcoming 2014 Nissan Qashqai created by an a manipulator named Jean-Francois Hubert.
The new crossover derives its design inspiration from the Nissan Resonance Concept which was showcased at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2013. The SUV gets sleeker and sharper. Nissan’s designers have resorted to an evolutionary approach and what you get is a conventional looking crossover SUV.
The biggest change in the second generation model is, the extended wheelbase version (Qashqai +2) with 7 seat option will no longer be available. Nissan intends to address the void with the next generation X-Trail which will be a 7 seater.
The powertrain option includes a new 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol engine which will replace the current car’s naturally aspirated 1.6 litre unit. There could also be a turbocharged 1.6 litre petrol engine in two states of tune. In addition there would be a 1.6 litre diesel engine.
The 2014 Nissan Qashqai is expected to be unveiled sometime later this year.
