2016 Car and Driver 10Best
Car and Driver has named its 10Best for 2016. The editors said this year's competition was tighter than ever. However only ten could make the cut, and here they are.

Included on the list for the year ahead, in alphabetical order, are the BMW M235i, Cadillac CTS Vsport, Chevy Camaro, Ford Shelby GT350/GT350R, Honda Accord, Mazda MX-5 Miata, Mazda3, Porsche Boxster/Cayman, Tesla Model S, and Volkswagen Golf/GTI/R. Few will be surprised by the presence of the Accord, which has won a place on the list more than any other model in the magazine's history, running now on an uninterrupted winning streak that dates back to 1998. And of course evergreen favorites like the mid-engined Porsche and the VW Golf are there, too.

The BMW 3 Series (and its 4 Series coupe spin-off) is the next most awarded model in the publication's esteem, but was left off the list for the second year running, its place kept warm by the M235i. TheCorvette didn't make the cut either, usurped as it were by the Camaro, but roadster enthusiasts will note the return of the MX-5 Miata after a two-year absence.

Notable exceptions that editor-in-chief Eddie Alterman says he wishes could have made the list, but didn't in the end, include the Cadillac ATS-V, Honda Civic, and Mercedes C450. At least Caddy and Honda can take solace in one of their other products making the cut, but Mercedes cannot. Mazda is the only automaker with two models on the list.
