The Suzuki Vitara (Escudo) features a watered-down styling of the Suzuki iV-4 concept, that includes a twin-slat grille, a matching appliqué on the front bumper, swept back headlamps, an upward running crease line on the doors, dual-tone exterior colour theme with optional contrast roof, and a pair of angular tail light assembly.
The interior of the Suzuki Escudo gets exterior-colour-coordinated trims, a centre console finished in black, a 7-inch infotainment display with touchscreen, a clock between the central AC vents, and a familiar steering wheel design.
The Japan-spec Vitara is powered by a 1.6-litre VVT petrol engine with DOHC, that produces 117 PS (86 KW) at 6,000 rpm and 151 Nm (15.4 kg-m) at 4,400 rpm. Mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, the Front Wheel Drive variants return a mileage of 18.2 km/l (JC08 cycle) and the Suzuki AllGrip equipped All Wheel Drive models claim 17.4 km/l (JC08 cycle) mileage.
The Escudo is set for debut at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, which will commence at the end of this month. Outside Japan, the model is known only as the Suzuki Vitara.
