The next gen Fiat Punto is being described as a ‘Super Palio’, with respect to dimensions and specifications. It is reported to replace both the Fiat Punto and Palio in the Brazilian market, and could be marketed under a different name. The Punto successor will ride on a stretched version of the Fiat 326 platform sourced from the Palio and Uno, and will measure just under 4 meters long.
Inside, the new Fiat Punto will feature a more premium dashboard trimmed with better plastics, as seen in spyshots. The steering wheel is nearly similar to the Fiat Tipo, while the center console has only four buttons in the middle and HVAC controls below. A 5-inch UConnect infotainment system could be integrated as a freestanding display.
Reports suggest that the new Punto will be equipped with an all new 1.3 16V GSE (3-cylinder engine) that produces around 105 hp. Also on the cards are 1.6-litre and 1.8-litre E.torQ engines, where the latter engine will be paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
