The all-new Civic (5-door) hatchback seen in these official images is the U.S.-spec version, which has now entered series production at the company's Swindon plant in the UK and is being shipped to the North American market.
Despite being the global production hub for the tenth generation Honda Civic Hatchback, neither UK, nor any other country in Europe will be the premiere market for the all-new model. U.S. will be the first market getting the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback, when the car reaches dealerships in September 2016. The all-new Civic Hatchback has been announced in Canada too, where its sales will commence this year too.
In the U.S. and Canada, the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback will be powered exclusively by the 1.5-litre VTEC TURBO turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine. This engine has been tuned to produce 174 hp and 162 lb.-ft. (219.64 Nm) of torque in LX, EX and EX-L (U.S.)/LX (Canada) trim(s), and 180 hp and 162 lb.-ft. (219.64 Nm) of torque in Sport and Sport Touring trims. The Sport and Sport Touring trims feature a high-flow center-mounted exhaust. The turbocharged gasoline engine will be mated to either a continuously variable transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission.
Noteworthy features of the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback include LED headlights, remote engine start, Honda Display Audio infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration compatibility, heated front and rear seats, power adjustment for driver and front passenger seats and heated door mirrors.
Also a highlight, is the Honda Sensing package of driver assistance technologies, consisting of Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with integrated Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with integrated Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow.
The Euro-spec 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback is scheduled to enter production towards the end of 2016 and go on sale in first markets in Q1 2017. While the hatchback version is certainly a skip for India, the sedan version of the tenth generation Honda Civic is planned to be launched in India. Honda Cars India will reportedly launch the new generation Civic in 2018-19 to rival the all-new 2016 Hyundai Elantra which launches this month.
