MoreBikes has posted two patent drawings of what appears to be the production version of the Honda CX-02 concept, which made its premiere at the Auto Expo 2016.

The publication reports that when launched, the motorcycle will be called the Honda CMX500. Some reports expect this motorcycle to spawn into the next-gen Honda CB500X.

According to their report, the Honda CMX500 will co-exist with the Honda CB500 range. In comparison to the CB500, the CMX500 will be a more road-focussed offering. It will feature a more upright riding position, a taller front fairing, a new steel frame, a larger exhaust and an adjustable screen. Not to forget, compared to the CB500X Adventure, the CMX500 is also reported to get a chunkier swingarm.

Compared to the CX-02 concept, the motorcycle in the patent images looks hardly different. The design of the motorcycle was envisioned and executed by Honda Two-Wheeler's R&D division in India. This was the subsidiary's second design work, the first being the Honda Navi which went on sale at the Auto Expo 2016.

The concept CX-02 featured Avon Distanzia 120/70-R17 and 160/60-R17 dual purpose tyres, LED headlights and LED taillights, a fully-digital color instrument cluster and a switchable traction control system. Honda announced that the concept was powered by an inline twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine.
