2017 Honda CR-V spied featuring sunroof, LED lights, dual exhaust

The global presentation of the new CR-V is likely to be held by early next year.

The CR-V prototype features the final production-spec exterior lightly wrapped by camouflage, giving a faint idea of what it would look like. The styling is an evolutionary jump forward, drawing cues from its sedan sibling – the Honda Civic.

The front-end features Honda's Solid Wing Grille design flanked by LED headlamps, plenty of chrome embellishers, and a contoured engine hood. The test mule also features a sunroof, new L-shaped tail lamps connected by a bold chrome applique, chrome-finished exhaust pipes and repositioned registration plate.

The fifth gen Honda CR-V will be based on the new Civic's lighter modular platform, which brings along a new range of fuel-efficient turbocharged engines like the 1.5L turbo VTEC petrol engine and range-topping 2.0-litre Turbo VTEC petrol engines (in the Honda CR-V RS variant). A diesel variant with the current 1.6-liter i-DTEC motor could continue being offered in Europe.

As for its launch in India, expect the next-gen Honda CR-V to arrive in the second half of 2017. It is reported to be manufactured in India at 65 percent localization.
