2017 Suzuki Swift launched in Japan
After months of testing and leaks, the 2017 Suzuki Swift has finally been unveiled and concurrently launched in Japan. The global-spec 2017 Suzuki Swift will debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017.

The Suzuki Swift has undergone an evolutionary redesign for its fourth generation to get a little more mature look with more angular front and rear fascias. The 2017 Suzuki Swift measures 3,840 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width and 1,500 mm/1,525 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm.

The 2017 Suzuki Swift features a completely revamped interior with a new multifunction 3-spoke, flat-bottomed steering wheel and redesigned dashboard, instrument panel, centre console, HVAC vents, gearshift lever and central tunnel. There's a new infotainment system integrated into the dashboard, and it features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration compatibility.

The 2017 Suzuki Swift can be had with three powertrain options in Japan. The base engine is the K12C 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 67 PS and 118 Nm of torque. There's option for a mild-hybrid variant in which this engine is paired to the WA05A electric motor which generates 3.1 PS and 50 Nm. Lastly, there's the K10C 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 102 PS and 150 Nm.

The 1.2-litre petrol model can be had only with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission, while the 1.2-litre petrol-electric model can be had only with the latter. Both models can be had with a four-wheel drive system. The 1.0-litre petrol model gets a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard, and it's available only in two-wheel drive.

Sales of the 2017 Suzuki Swift in Japan will commence on 4 January, 2017. Maruti Suzuki has not commented on the launch of the 2017 Maruti Swift, but reports expect it in India late next year, produced from the Gujarat plant.
