The current Toyota Avalon is almost at the end of its lifecycle now. At NAIAS 2018 on 15 January 2018, Toyota will unveil the 2019 Toyota Avalon.

Along with the debut's announcement, Toyota has also released a teaser of the 2019 Toyota Avalon. The teaser image hints angular headlamps with LED DRLs, an aggressive grille layout and an overall much sportier design for the Toyota Avalon. Spy shots have shown that the full-size sedan will undergo a complete revamp and look notably different from the current model.

Moving to its fifth generation, the Toyota Avalon will switch to the TNGA platform. The new modular platform debuted with the Toyota Prius and underpins the Toyota C-HR and Toyota Camry as well. Reports say that Toyota is likely to offer the 2019 Toyota Avalon with inline four-cylinder and V6 petrol engines. The redesigned Avalon range should include a hybrid variant as well. The current Avalon is available only with 3.5-litre V6 petrol and 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol-electric (hybrid) options.

Toyota builds the current Toyota Avalon at its Kentucky plant in the USA. Production should continue here post the lifecycle makeover. The 2019 Toyota Avalon could go on sale in the U.S. market in the second half of 2018.
