5 Things We Know About The 2017 Honda CR-V
Here are 5 things we know about the fifth generation Honda CR-V, which was recently spotted on tests in the United States.

1. Exterior design:

Though the overall shape and profile of the 2017 Honda CR-V is mildly resemblant of the current generation model, reports state that the SUV will sport design cues from the 2016 Honda Civic. A new trapezoidal grille, sharply-cut LED headlights and L-shaped, Acura-inspired taillights were seen on a prototype.

2. Based on the new Civic’s platform:

In a press conference in February this year, Honda Motor Co., Ltd. president & CEO Takahiro Hachigo confirmed that the next generation Honda CR-V and Honda Accord will ride on the 2016 Honda Civic’s all-new platform.

3. Optional 7-seat layout:

To further increase the Honda CR-V’s appeal and versatility, reports state that the carmaker will offer an optional third row of seats on the crossover. This will help the CR-V better tackle competition which consists of the Ford Everest (Ford Endeavour), Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the Hyundai Santa Fe.

4. Engine and Gearbox:

Aside from a naturally-aspired i-VTEC petrol engine and the i-DTEC diesel unit, the 2017 Honda CR-V is also expected to get a VTEC Turbo engine. Honda could offer either its 1.5- or 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo unit paired to a CVT driving all wheels of the crossover.

5. Market launch:

Honda is expected to present the 2017 Honda CR-V in the American market towards the end of this year or in early-2017, possibly at a major North American motor show like the Los Angeles Auto Show (November 2016) or the Detroit Motor Show (January 2017).
