BMW Orders 1.3-Million Recall
Earlier in 2012 BMW recalled 235 000 Minis due to a fire risk. Now the German automaker wants more than a million owners to bring in their 5 and 6 Series cars.

The total is 1.3-million vehicles assembled between 2003 and 2010; the problem to sort is whether a battery cable in the boot is a fire hazard.

In certain cases, the battery cable cover may be incorrectly mounted. This could result in an electrical system malfunction, the vehicle failing to start, and - in rare circumstances - the charring of the cables or fire.

BMW is not aware of any actual incidents or injury. The recall is a preventative measure.

This repair should take no longer than a half-hour.
