Time to see if the 1M really was the ultimate M car. Despite the fact that they were both designed and built by BMW's M division, the two cars participating in this race are as different as apples and large, over-sized, oranges.

The 1M, a pure lightweight rear-wheel drive coupe, weighs in at 3,296 lbs and produces about 340 hp. According to its dedicated fans, it might just be the finest car ever to roll out of Bavaria. At the other end of the spectrum, the 5,180-pound, 567-hp AWD F85 BMW X5 M may reap endless compliments, but still looks like it's headed to pick the kids up from ballet class.
