Which Car Won The Best Driver's Car Of The Year Award?
The dust has finally settled at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca after twelve cars have been put through the paces for Motor Trend’s annual Best Driver’s Car comparison and in the aftermath, a winner reigns supreme among its peers.

That car happens to be the McLaren 570S, the British automaker's newest offering that's hell-bent on being one of the main reasons that sales triple for the brand by 2020. Armed with Motor Trend's highest endorsement (as well as our own), that prediction may just come true.

To win its title, the 570S had to beat out eleven other rock-solid automotive choices. These included the Mercedes-AMG GT S (last year's Best Driver's Car winner), the Jaguar F-Type SVR, Aston Martin V12 Vantage S, Porsche 911 Carrera S, Audi R8 V10 Plus, Acura NSX, Chevy Camaro 1LE, Nissan GTR, BMW M4 GTS, Shelby GT 350R, and the Dodge Viper ACR. At $219,770, the McLaren was also the most expensive car in the pack, although price doesn't always equal top quality performance as the Aston Martin showed by taking twelfth place while being the second most expensive car on the list at $211,910. One notable contender was the Ford Mustang Shelby GT 350R, which won second place even with a base price of $66,990.

This all but cements the Mustang as one of the best value sports cars on the market. So what helped the McLaren come out on top in a roster this impressive? Well, according to the MT crew, it was the car's level of telepathy. When the 12C hit the market and restarted McLaren's venture into the supercar world, most reviewers found it to be too clinical and lacking in charisma. That antiseptic feel has been eliminated from the McLaren persona with the 570S, with one test driver describing it as one of the most organic and telepathic cars on the market. Next year, MT hopes to have the Ferrari 488 GTB, Mercedes AMG GT R, and even a Pagani Huayra BC to give the McLaren a run for its money.

If you have the time, watch how the competition went down in this video.

And of course, here's the winner showing the rest of the contenders how it's done.
