Chinese Electric Wagon Targets Porsche Taycan With Huawei Tech And 559-Mile Range
A joint venture between Huawei and GAC, the Aistaland GT7 is a luxury 5-door shooting brake America just can have.

Key Points

  • Wagons are resurging, with brands experimenting with new wagons or shooting brakes.
  • Aistaland GT7 features AI-powered surround sound, zero-gravity seats, and advanced ambient lighting.
  • Tri-motor GT7 offers up to 559 miles range, supercharges at 1 km per second.

The Return of Shooting Brakes

SUVs have largely killed off the station wagon/shooting brake body type. The taller, more capable SUVs took over families the world over, despite the practical, spacious packages that wagons offer.

In recent times, we’re seeing brands embrace wagons once more, and some are even being offered by premium marques like the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo. A Chinese automaker has just been launched, and its new car is a wagon/shooting brake that could take on the Porsche, if we ever get it.

Aistaland GT7

Aistaland is a new energy vehicle brand from China; it’s the result of a joint venture between Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. (GAC) and Technology giant Huawei. What’s interesting is that Huawei already has existing partnerships and brands like AITO and Stellato.

Aistaland is posisitioned as a premium intelligent electric vehicle brand, the name is a play on the phrase “AI Start New Land,” which gives us an idea that this brand will be honing in on using AI technology in the cars.

Its first model is called the GT7; it was first showcased back in March 2026 and will be scheduled to take orders in June, with initial deliveries set to begin in July. Car News China reports that Aistaland has just revealed the interior of the GT7.

The interior highlight is the inclusion of Huawei’s Sound AI system, which uses AI algorithms to dynamically map music to the cabin’s ambient lighting, matching both tempo and emotional tones. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, it can also use AI to create a “Phantom Effect” that mimics the layout of a live music studio setting for passengers. The system as a whole has 21 speakers and will be powered by Huawei Harmony OS and a 71.4 surround sound architecture.

Other interior features include a 15.6-inch central touchscreen with an augmented reality heads-up display (AR-HUD), and an 88-inch projection area. The steering wheel has dedicated buttons for the intelligent driving modes on the left and right, it also has vertical cupholders, and two 50W wireless charging pads. Next up are dual zero-gravity seats with 16-way power adjustments, and lastly, the panoramic roof has 9 dimming modes.

Power

The Aistaland GT7 uses Huawei’s Qiankun platform and has the XMC 3.0 digital chassis. In terms of performance, it uses a tri-motor system powered by either an 86.111 kWh or 102.768 kWh battery pack.

In terms of range, it has a total of 559 miles (900 km) and is supported by supercharging capabilities. According to reports, the GT7 can replenish 1 kilometer of range per second using the supercharger.
