Ducati Unveils Range-Topping Monster 1200 and 1200 S with Pricing
Ducati has unveiled the third generation of its naked (read: fairing-less) motorcycles, comprised of the Monster 1200 and 1200 S, at the press conference ahead of the 71st International Motorcycle Exhibition (EICMA) in Milan

The two new Monsters will be available in 2014, and they'll both be powered by the Superbike-derived 1199cc Testastretta engine. The twin-cylinder engine has been tuned to develop better mid-range power in the pair of Monsters, and it pumps out 145 horsepower and 92 pound-feet of torque in the 1200 S. A single-side swing-arm locates the rear wheel, which puts the power to the ground on the 401-pound motor bike.

Ducati says the new Monsters are equipped with high-spec brakes and suspension, as well as lightweight wheels, and they're packed with technology, such as eight-level traction control, three-level ABS and three-level Ride-by-Wire throttle, all of which can be changed at the press of a button.

The Monster 1200 comes with a red frame and black wheels, as does the 1200 S. The latter also can be ordered with a special white-and-bronze frame. The Monster 1200 will be priced at $13,495, while the 1200 S will go for $15,995.
