Late last month, the 2014 Yaris was spied testing in heavy camouflage in a test track in Europe. From the spy shots, it was visible that Toyota had made some cosmetic changes to the head lamps, fog lights, front bumper, rear tail lights and rear bumpers, represented in the rendering.
A next-gen model of the Yaris hatchback is expected in 2015, so the 2014 facelift is likely to be at the skin level. It will also have quite a short lifespan.
The Yaris hatch was first introduced in 1999 and a sedan variant, called the Vios, was launched later. The 2014 Vios sedan was displayed for the first time at the Bangkok Motor Show in March this year. This was for the ASEAN markets. For this region, the platform’s chief engine option is a 1.5 litre 1NZ-FE petrol engine which puts out 109PS and 141 Nm of torque. The transmission options are a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic.
