Haiti: 29 Dead and 56 Injured in Road Accident
29 people killed and fifty others seriously injured. This is the last stock of the traffic accident occurred Monday in Delmas 33 (east of Port-au-Prince).

The survivors of this accident were admitted to the State University of Haiti, the OFATMA, hospital Peace of Delmas 33 and Doctors Without Borders.

A packed crowd of onlookers gather on Monday morning before the State Television of Haiti to comment on this tragedy that has plunged the whole city into consternation. Indeed, a truck whose brakes failed at Delmas 40 (of Haiti) has crushed all in its path before ending his run in the walls of the TNH. The toll was heavy, about twenty dead and dozens seriously injured. Scrap cars and motorcycles squashed by the crazy truck are noticed here and there. Blood is spilled across the floor, the results are striking. Some witnesses, including Mario Jacques a security guard of the TNH tell us what they saw.

28 wounded were admitted to the hospital from the State University of Haiti, 12 were supported by Doctors Without Borders, 10 were received by the Hospital de la Paix in Delmas 33, while four others were led to the OFATMA.

The truck driver has evaporated into the wild after abandoning the vehicle in full speed according to witnesses of the tragedy. Relatives of the victims were also found at the scene of the disaster on Tuesday. While deploring what happened, they denounced the irresponsibility of the authorities of traffic service.

The traffic accidents are common in Haiti early this year. Yet no changes were observed in the behavior of drivers, both motorists and motorcyclists. The measures announced by the central management of the traffic police does, apparently no result so far.
