Hennessey Exorcist Camaro Zl1 Casts Out 959 Hp On The Dyno
Video shows just how powerful this Camaro actually is

Hennessey is looking to exercise its demons – or Dodge Demon, we should day. The Texas tuning shop hopes its new 1,000-horsepower (745-kilowatt) Camaro ZL1 build send the Dodge Demon back from whence it came. In doing so, the company has released a new video showing just how sinister the Camaro is on the dyno.

With a whopping 1,000 hp under the hood, The Exorcist Camaro puts down 959 hp (715 kW) to the wheels. All that added power is courtesy of a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that comes with an updated intercooler that aids in producing 14-psi of boost. New ported cylinder heads, a new camshaft, and a revised exhaust also helps bring the project up to speed, literally.

Buyers can choose from either the standard six-speed manual, or the optional new 10-speed automatic. Either way, The Exorcist still produces the aforementioned 1,000 hp and 966 pound-feet (1,310 Newton-meters) of torque. That means it’s capable of sprinting to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in less than three seconds, and the quarter mile in under 10 seconds with drag radials at the rear.

The upgrade itself costs $55,000, that’s not including the price of a new Camaro ZL1 ($63,435) plus $995 destination and $1,300 for gas-guzzler tax. Hennessey charges $9,950 for the upgraded automatic gearbox, and for an extra $8,995, you can add an optional drag pack, which comes with 20-inch wheels, drag radials, and and upgraded driveshaft, floor jack, and tool kit. The road race kit, meanwhile, comes with 20-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires for $6,995.

Whatever the cost, Hennessey guarantees that it will be one monster machine. Already it bests the Demon’s 840 hp (626 kW) and 770 pound-feet of torque, and Hennessey says a 1,500-hp (1,118-kW) Exorcist Camaro is already the works. Demon buyers beware.
