Honda motorcycles to get steering assist system; patent leaked

The tech is likely to make its way to the next generation Fireblade that will arrive with the Euro-V emission norms. The new Honda engine will use variable valve operation equipment that will be aimed to ensure good mid- and high-revs performance engine without compromising on either.

However, that is not the only tech that's heading to the products from the Japanese two-wheeler brand. New leaked data about upcoming tech for Honda motorcycles reveal a steering assist system. The patent was filed back in September 2016. The steering assist system is said to work similarly like a car's  power steering that is aimed to make turning the vehicle easier. An assist motor will transmit the turning force to the steering stem for a lighter steering action.

The source report does not name the products on which the new tech will be seen although the patent image resembles the Honda Goldwing. The system would come handy on Honda's luxury motorcycle that carries a massive amount of weight. The luxury tourer, as motorcycle enthusiasts and regular followers of the two-wheeler industry would already know, comes equipped with the convenience of a reverse gear.

The steering tech, similar to the VVT system, should arrive in 2020. We should hear more details at one of the motorcycling events at the end of the year.

Competitors are also preparing their own tech for making motorcycling comfortable and safer. Ducati, for example, will introduce a motorcycle with front and rear radar system in 2020. The Italian two-wheeler brand, along with Audi and Ford, took part in the first US demonstration of a communication system that interlinks vehicles, street infrastructure and pedestrians.
