Honda Plans to Ax Crosstour, Focus on New HR-V Crossover
Honda will end production of the slow-selling Crosstour after the 2015 model year and turn its attention to the HR-V small crossover set to arrive this spring.

The end of the line for the Accord derivative will enable Honda's East Liberty, Ohio, plant to focus on building the CR-V and Acura RDX models, both of which are enjoying brisk sales.

At the same time, Honda also will shift production of the Accord Hybrid from the Marysville, Ohio, plant to its Sayama plant in Japan.

Crosstour sales have fallen short of expectations since its launch in the 2010 model year and this year have plunged to new lows. Only 742 were sold in March.

"The crossover segment has evolved," said John Mendel, American Honda's sales chief, in a statement.

He said the all-new HR-V "will create new value for crossover shoppers and play a more significant role as a gateway model for the Honda brand to drive light-truck sales growth."
