The i20 Active was designed at Hyundai Motor’s design centre in Europe in Rüsselsheim, Germany. Based on the Elite i20, which recorded its second best ever sales of 10,264 units last month, the i20 Active will compete with the likes of the Fiat Avventura, VW Cross Polo and Toyota Etios Cross. India will be the first market for the i20 Active.
Designers have opted for new front and rear bumpers with circular foglight enclosures/reflectors, a new airdam, silver skid plates, side body cladding, a new alloy wheel pattern and roof rails. On the feature front, the i20 Active gets projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, and not to forget, increased ground clearance over the Elite i20.
The i20 Active would carry over the 1.2-liter petrol and 1.4-liter diesel engine from the Elite i20. However, sources say that the suspension will be reconfigured to account for the higher ground clearance.
Competitors: Fiat Avventura, Toyota Etios Cross, VW Cross Polo
