Hyundai Ix20 Caught Testing In Chennai
Could be testing new components/powertrain for the car maker.

A reader of Fly Wheel has photographed the Hyundai ix20 testing on the roads of Chennai, however, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has no plans of launching the product. The ix20 test mule has been photographed on previous occasions as well, and sources say HMIL could be testing components/engines on the prototype.

The ix20 is branded a small MPV in the European market despite having dimensions of 4,120 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, 1,600 mm in height and 2,615 mm in wheelbase. It is offered with a range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines paired to 5- and 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.

The range starts with a 1.4-liter MPi petrol engine developing 90 PS and 140 Nm of torque, extending to a 1.6-liter MPi developing 125 PS and 159 Nm of torque. On the diesel front, the ix20 offers 1.4- and 1.6-liter diesel engines developing 77 PS and 245 Nm, and 128 PS and 265 Nm respectively.

While Hyundai has no plans to launch the ix20, the car maker is committed to introducing a 7-seat MPV that will rival the Renault Lodgy, Honda Mobilio, Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta.
