India-made 2018 Honda Amaze launched in South Africa
The 2018 Honda Amaze has been launched in the South African market for a starting price of R 179,900 (INR 908,730.67).

The new model is exported to the southernmost country in Africa from Honda Cars India's Tapukara facility in Rajasthan.

In South Africa, the 2018 Honda Amaze is available in two trims - Trend and Comfort. Unlike the Indian version, which features a DIGIPAD 2.0 touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto And Apple CarPlay support in the range-topping VX variant, the South African version is available with a four-speaker sound system only. The colour theme is in beige-black only, but the company is offering a set of black synthetic leather seat covers as a no-cost option.

The equipment list of the entry-level trim includes the aforementioned audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, manual air conditioning, electric windows, remote central locking, tilt-adjustable multi-function steering wheel, dual front airbags, ABS and 15-inch alloy wheels. Additionally, the Comfort trim offers automatic climate control, electric ORVMs, fog lights and body-coloured ORVMs and door handles.

Powering the South African-spec 2018 Honda Amaze is the 1.2-litre four-cylinder iVTEC naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 66 kW (88.5 bhp) at 6,000 RPM and a peak torque of 110 Nm at 4,800 rpm. It sends power to the wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT. The latter is available in the Comfort trim only.

In India, the second-generation Amaze is Honda Cars India Ltd's best-selling car, with over 30,000 sales in three months of its launch. The compact sedan recorded a YoY sales growth of a whopping 228% in September 2018.'Compared to the 2,561 units of the last-gen Amaze that were sold in September 2017, the second-gen model found 8,401 buyers last month.
