However, the popular Japanese tuner ESB Style thinks the Toyota Roomy could be and do more than that, so it has given the mini-MPV a camper makeover inspired by the unmistakable looks of the Toyota Land Cruiser.
Christened LandC Roomy, the modified minivan looks just like a miniature version of the Land Cruiser LC300 on the outside, while the interior can be configured as a large, squishy bed for occasional lie-downs.
The exterior redesign certainly has the cool factor. It borrows several design elements from the rugged off-road SUV, such as a large, aggressive front grille complemented by a sporty bumper with a body-colored diffuser, and the result is quite charming.
Moreover, to enhance the vehicle's off-road capabilities, ESB Style equipped the Landc Roomy with white steel rims wrapped in Toyo Open Country 165/65R15 rugged-terrain tires for better traction and grip, as well as a new suspension kit that raises it higher than stock by 30 mm. Apart from giving it a toughened-up stance, the new suspension system increases ground clearance, enabling the vehicle to tackle uneven terrain with more confidence. With an optional 4WD setup, the vehicle would become even more adept at handling outings off the beaten path.
The list of exterior modifications also includes a roof rack and a hard-shell rooftop cargo box, which enhances the humble minivan's cargo capacity.
Moving on to the interior of the minivan, EBS only kept the front seats and turned the rear cabin into a big lounging/sleeping area with a foldable "Fox Mat" mattress. Since it measures just 155 cm (61 inches) in length and 125 cm (49 inches) wide, it might not be the best configuration for camping if you value comfort.
However, though it might not be the best choice for serious overland adventures, the LandC Roomy could certainly support spontaneous one-day road trips or even an overnight stay in the wilderness with your significant other.
No modifications have been made under the hood, which means the LandC Roomy minivan takes its power from a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo engine capable of producing 97 hp and 103 lb-ft (140 Nm) of torque.
The cutesy Toyota Landc Roomy was showcased to the world at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon earlier this month, and EBS Style announced that all the components installed on the minivan, including the Land Cruiser-inspired front grille, rear bumper, suspension kit, set of steel rims, and foldable bed, would be available off-the-shelf. They can be purchased either as a conversion kit, priced at ¥295,000 (about $2,000), or individually. The components are also compatible with the Daihatsu Thor and Subaru Justy.
