The publication also says that the production version would retain most of the concept car’s design. The front end of the Kia KX3 concept previewed the Hyundai-owned brand’s new design language with high-mounted headlamps and a narrower Tigershark front grille.
Based on the Hyundai ix25 which recently went on sale in China, the KX3 is reported to be powered by 1.6-litre naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines. A 5-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic units are expected to constitute the transmission lineup.
The compact crossover sits on a high-tensile steel monocoque which is engineered to achieve 5-star safety rating in C-NCAP. The company said earlier that the KX3 is exclusively developed for the Chinese market.
The production version is expected to retain the dimensions of the concept which measured 4,260 mm in length, 1,765 mm width, 1,630 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,590 mm.
