Lamborghini's 10-Seat SUV Had A Stick-Shift And A V12
If you're looking for a big SUV that can haul around the whole family, your options are just about limitless. If you're looking for one that has seating for about 10, a V12 engine, and a stick-shift, your options are a lot more limited. In fact, this Lamborghini LM002 Wagon that was built for the legendary collection of the Sultan of Brunei might be your only option in the entire world.

The Rambo Lambo If Things Had Gone A Little Differently
Lamborghini's first off-roader, the LM002, was a vehicle of extremes. It was built to be the Italian equivalent of the original Mercedes-Benz G-Class, a vehicle built for the army to see use in exercises and combat. It never really caught on, and Lamborghini only ever built about 300 of them. Only one was transformed like this beast.

This car was purchased in 1989 by the Sultan of Brunei who had it sent to Autocostruzioni Salvatore Diomante. Diomante was an automotive engineer who ran the Bizzarrini factory in the 1960s before setting out on his own. Today he restores old Italian cars, but in the 1980s he was a coachbuilder. Making long-wheelbase versions of the Maserati Quattroporte, stretched Rolls-Royce models, and others.

Diomante didn't stretch the wheelbase of this Lambo for the Sultan, but he did stretch the cabin. Instead of the oddball and useless pickup bed, he gave the LM002 a longer and taller roof. It maintained the wedge shape of the LM002, but it added enough space in the back for three bench seats.

The reworked cabin is trimmed with black leather on the front and rear seats. It even has a CD-player mounted in the roof and a (not working) CRT TV in the custom center console. Other extras include a sunroof over the middle row.

Under the hood is the same epic lump you'll find under the hood of every LM002 or in the back of a contemporary Countach. A 5.2-liter V12 that made 455 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque. The LM002 has a low-range transfer case, three locking differentials, and a five-speed manual transmission from ZF. Like we said, the perfect family ride.

Yes, This Was Actually Used As A Family Car
After this custom cruiser left Brunei it ended up in the garage of Bernd Pischetsrieder, chair of BMW and Volkswagen, and this would have been mid-way through his term at VW. He had it brought up to spec and run through the Registro Lamborghini.

In 2012 it went from its original home in hot and humid Brunei to the polar opposite. Its new home wasn't on the equator, but in Sweden. There, at least according to the seller, it was actually used as a family hauler. The owner used it to take her kids to school.

Now it's up for action on Bring a Trailer. It's still in Sweden, though it's being auctioned by a dealer there. It comes with a binder full of documentation, including a visual inspection and test drive in 2004 by Lamborghini legend Valentino Balboni.

This might be one of the most stupid cars of all time, and we mean that in the best possible way. A V12 SUV with three pedals, 10 seats, and as far as we can tell, only four belts. And, of course, the bidding is through the roof, at 220,000 euros ($256,000) as we write this with seven days remaining.
