Land Rover may reveal a new model between Range Rover Sport and Evoque at Geneva
If automotive news source Autocar is to be believed, we'll be seeing a brand-new Land Rover model at this year's Geneva auto show.

The outlet reports that the company will reveal a mid-size SUV called the Velar to fit between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. It will also be targeted at the Porsche Macan and other small to midsize luxury crossovers.

From what Autocar says, the new Land Rover Velar could be the Range Rover Sport Coupe (pictured above) that our spy photographers caught several months ago. The size is about right, and Autocar says that it will probably be based on the F-Pace's platform, and even using the same V6 and inline-4 engines. Autocar does say that the V6 engines will eventually be replaced by the company's upcoming inline-6 engine and that it could even feature a V8.

Autocar doesn't cite any sources in their report, but the existence of the Land Rover's prototype lends credence to the rumor. Not only that, but there is roughly a $24,000 gap between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport. Granted, there's also about a $20,000 gap between the Sport and the traditional Range Rover, but the size difference between the Evoque and Sport is much greater. We'll know more in about a month when the Geneva show comes around.
