Lucerne Electric Jet Craft Is an Unconventional Electric Boat With Sports Car Looks
We're living in an era where sustainability and technological advancements are at the forefront of innovation in all industry sectors.

On land, electric cars, e-bikes, and e-scooters have already taken center stage, and the maritime industry seems to follow the same path toward a greener future, with boat manufacturers worldwide riding the waves of change and ramping up production of electric watercraft ranging from pontoons to speedboats.

VonMercier, a Maryland-based company whose mission is to design and build vehicles that enhance exploration, transportation, and recreation, is putting its own unique spin on personal watercraft design by revealing the Lucerne Electric Jet Craft, one of the most exciting and visually striking electric boats ever made.

With distinctive aesthetics inspired by automotive design and harnessing the power of electricity, this sleek electric boat aims to offer riders a sustainable, efficient, and thrilling way to glide over the water. It boasts a carbon fiber construction and stands out with a streamlined, shallow V hull that will cut through the waves and an open-air cabin that ensures a sporty and luxurious experience.

This is certainly not a traditional watercraft, and what sets it apart from other PWCs is its uncanny resemblance to a sports car and its electric hydro-jet propulsion system, which promises agility, excitement, and full control - a riding experience that feels like driving a supercar on water.

Last year, VonMercier presented another innovative watercraft called Arosa. Boasting a similar luxury sportscar aesthetic, the Arosa is an electric hovercraft that can effortlessly glide over various surfaces such as grass, sand, snow, and water. The new Lucerne seems to take some design cues from the company's previous product, but focuses only on water adventures.

According to VonMercier, the Lucerne Electric Jet Craft offers 150 horsepower (110 kW) and is powered by an advanced lithium-ion battery system that provides the right balance between weight and range. No specific details on the battery capacity have been revealed, but the company says riders will get around two hours of operating time on a full charge. Moreover, the battery can be recharged at standard EV charging stations.

This electric hydro-jet propulsion system offers various benefits. Apart from a smooth, fast, and agile ride in various water conditions, it also ensures silent operation and a more enjoyable ride with no odors. With zero tailpipe emissions, the electric system is also better for the environment, making Lucerne a good option for folks looking for an eco-friendly PWC.

Compact and lightweight, this unconventional electric boat can be towed by most SUVs or light trucks. It measures just 18 feet (5.5 meters) in length and tips the scales at 1,500 pounds (680 kg), which makes it easy for owners to transport it to their waterway of choice.

The boat's shallow V hull is designed for enhanced agility, control, and stability in both deep and shallow waters. It is built with premium materials inside and out, including carbon fiber for the body and teak decks, which give it a modern and luxurious look.

Though compact in size, the Lucerne can carry up to four passengers thanks to a side-by-side seating arrangement, with two rear sports seats and a front bench seat. VonMercier allows customers to customize the watercraft to their liking with various choices for exterior color and interior fabrics and finishes.

The Lucerne Electric Jet Craft is already available for order with a base price of $135,000. A $500 deposit reserves a place in the production queue, and the company says delivery will take between two to four months, and the final price depends on the specifications and options you choose.
