The Range Rover Sport SV Carbon joins the Black and the regular SV at the top of the Range Rover Sport roster. Not only is it the latest, it's also the final addition to the high-performance lineup. Making its public debut at the upcoming Monterey Car Week, the RRS SV Carbon focuses on performance and luxury - and, of course, the lightweight (and expensive) composite material.
The Range Rover Sport SV Carbon starts off with the Forged Carbon Exterior Pack, which has stealth carbon fiber around the active quad exhausts as standard. An additional exposed carbon fiber hood is optional, as is a twill carbon finish on the exhaust finishers. Also standard is a set of 23-inch forged alloy wheels with anodized black brake calipers, but you can upgrade that to a set of carbon fiber wheels with carbon ceramic brake calipers in blue, yellow, carbon bronze, or black.
Inside, the Range Rover Sport SV Carbon also comes with woven accents, including the dashboard, while the performance seats have forged carbon fiber seatbacks, integrated with headrests, sculpted bolsters, and illuminated SV logos. There are four interior themes: Ebony, Rosewood/Ebony, Light Cloud/Ebony, and Cinder Grey/Ebony - the last one is leather-free using Ultrafabrics material.
With all lightweight options ticked, including the carbon fiber engine cover, Land Rover said the Range Rover Sport SV Carbon should save up to 168 pounds compared to a P530 in the nearest equivalent specification. That's the equivalent weight of one small person or a tall child, so it's still substantial in terms of acceleration and handling.
Unfortunately, there isn't any bump in power, which means it still makes up to 626 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque from the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 mild-hybrid engine supplied by BMW. That goes up to 590 lb-ft with Dynamic Launch Mode.
The Range Rover Sport SV Carbon is now available to order, at least in the UK. US pricing has not yet been announced at the time of this writing, but the car is expected to be sold stateside following its public debut at the Range Rover House during Monterey Car Week.
