The 2017 Suzuki Stingray measures 3,395 mm in length, 1,475 mm in width, 1,650 mm in weight, has a wheelbase and ground clearance of 150 mm. It is slightly heavier (by 10-20 kg) than the regular Wagon R, weighing between 770 kg – 850 kg. It is the more stylish one of the Wagon R duo, featuring a large angular grille, swept-back headlamps, sporty intakes in the bumper, fog lamps, side skirts, new alloy wheels, and new taillamps positioned on the lower fascia.
In Japan, the 2017 Suzuki Wagon R Stingray will sell in three grades: L, Hybrid X and Hybrid T. Standard features across the range include LED-power for headlamps, power folding ORVMs, 14-inch alloy wheels, multi function steering wheel, and start/stop button. The higher grades come with a Heads up Display, Dual Camera Brake Support, touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted paddles, and 16-inch alloy rims.
Powering the Stingray is an R06A 660 3-cyl petrol engine available in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms. The former produces 52 PS and 60 Nm of peak torque, while the latter outputs 64 PS and 94 Nm of torque. Hybrid variants come additionally equipped with a WAO5A electric motor producing 3.1 PS and 50 Nm of peak torque. All variants offer the option of AWD.
