Nissan Altima Introduced in China as the New Generation Teana
In front of a gathering of over 1,000 journalists, Nissan and Dongfeng Motors revealed the next generation Teana for the Chinese market at Tuesday.

If the sedan looks similar to you, its because you’ve seen the Altima badges on it. Nissan is using a global model strategy in the B, C and CD segments with the Sunny, Slyphy and Teana. One car will sell in developing and developed markets with local names and minor changes to the looks.

The Teana will be manufactured at the Dongfeng-Nissan JV plant in Xiangyang, Hubei province and will reach dealerships next month. Noticeable body changes compared to the Altima are chrome strips on the doors and front fascia, white markers on the headlights and redesigned taillight graphics.

Other features the press release notes are redesigned rear view monitor camera, zero gravity-inspired seats and a “suggestive aura” themed interior that maximizes space without compromising the sportiness of the interior layout.

Under the hood, the new Teana sports a 2.5-liter petrol engine (QR25DE engine) that makes 182hp mated to a XTronic CVT, a technology that was launched in India on the Renault Scala this year. The previous generations of the Teana (includes the one that is selling in India) clocked sales of over 700,000 units in China since the launch in 2004. The Teana is sold in 74 countries around the world with overall sales of over 1 million units till date.
