Nissan, Honda Recall Cars for Tire and Stability Problems
Nissan Motor Co. and Honda Motor Co. have announced recalls of popular car models.

Nissan is recalling certain Altima cars from the 2013 model year to correct a potential problem with their spare tires.

In a document filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the car maker said the spare tires on as many as 123,308 cars may have been significantly over- or under-inflated. As a result the tires could fail without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. Nissan said it built the affected vehicles from March 21, 2012, through March 26, 2013.

Honda is recalling certain Fit Sport vehicles from the 2012 and 2013 model years to fix their electronic stability control, or ESC systems. The company said the ESCs on the affected vehicles “may allow excessive yaw rates at high steering angles with certain tires,” which can increase the risk of a crash.

The recall affects 43,782 cars built from May 23, 2011, through March 22, 2013.
