The sporty fifth-gen Nissan Leaf will debut at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show that opens Oct 25.
The Nissan Leaf NISMO Concept gets a number of styling enhancements from NISMO, Nissan's motorsports and in-house tuning division. The Leaf NISMO Concept is fitted with a sporty aero kit consisting of front-lip spoiler, side skirts and diffuser-style rear bumper – all with red highlights.
The restyled front bumper has horizontal LED DRLs too on the sides. The white-black exterior colour scheme sees the central portion of the hood also painted in black. On the sides, the mirrors have red highlights, and larger six double-spoke alloy wheels have replaced standard wheels. At the rear, the diffuser-style rear bumper houses a brake light in the centre. Lastly, NISMO badges are there at the front and rear.
Inside, the performance-oriented theme continues with red stitching on the seats and steering wheel, red accents around the air vents and the start-stop button. There's a red mark on the flat-bottomed steering wheel at the top. Reports say that Nissan equipped the Leaf NISMO Concept with a sport-tuned suspension and a tweaked power unit controller that aids for improved acceleration.
The 2018 Nissan Leaf has a 40 kWh battery pack as standard. Its EM57 electric motor generates 150 PS and 320 Nm of torque. It has a driving range of 400 km as per the JC08 test cycle. Changes to these figures for the Nissan Leaf NISMO Concept, if any, are currently unknown. Nissan has not confirmed whether it intends to put the concept into production.
