NTC Trade Union hits at illegal transport
In a press meet held at the Centre Social Marie Reine de la Paix in Port Louis, the secretary of the National Transport Corporation Employees Union (NTCEU), Kishore Bholah said that since the appointment of the new director general, the company has started on a new and fresh note.

He also said that minister Anil Bachoo has ensured them that there will be no loss of jobs with the upcoming light railway system project.

He added, “We are going to transport people from the main terminus. It is from here that people can travel on the light rails. With the new Nissan buses, we aren’t facing any problems.”

However, Bholah said that the main problem remains illegal transport, which is adversely affecting the company. He explained, “With illegal transport, we are losing Rs 500,000 to Rs 600,000 everyday. We must find a solution to put an end to the problem.”

Bholah is also seeking a meeting with the minister of Public Infrastructure, National Development Unit, Land Transport and Shipping in order to discuss the revision of salaries awarded by the national remuneration board (NRB). He said, “For 31 years, the employees of NTC have been suffering in terms of salary.
