The Livingston County Sheriff's Office tells Rochester media outlets that John Farley had driven to a spot just up the road from his home in the town of Lima, 20 miles south of Rochester, after his dog wandered away Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies say when Farley got out of his vehicle to look for his dog, his minivan was in reverse and rolled backward, causing the open driver's-side door to knock him over. Deputies say the van rolled over Farley.
Farley was pronounced dead at the scene.
The dog was eventually found and returned to the family.
Before we have written about similar accident but it ended much more happier.
