Permit for Driving Schools: Examinations Conducted by MES

The issuance of the license for driving schools was frozen since 2008. Examinations for licenses have recently resumed and the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate (MES) is in duty. It was the police that previously charged.
The fact that this year is over and selections by the police did a lot of dissatisfied people. They argue that there is "no transparency." Police allege "everything was done properly." Nooreena (pseudonym) did not understand the mode selection. "I was surprised to see in the press that the applications were not open to the public and that only those selected by the Traffic Branch could take the exams," she said.
At the police said "everything is done transparently." Ajay Deena, Superintendent of Traffic Branch, argues, "Whoever wants to get such permits must apply and meet specific criteria. We have heard these complaints. It is important that the public understand our approach. Examinations are now conducted by the MES. This is already a transparent ... "
