Honda Cars India has started producing the Honda Brio facelift, and the first batch has also been exported to South Africa. Honda of South Africa launched the India-made Brio facelift and the Amaze facelift (Brio sedan facelift) this week.

The made-in-India Brio facelift is inline with the Indonesian model. The front fascia gets a larger grille with a chrome underlining strip. The front bumper is all-new with redesigned foglight enclosures similar to that of the Amaze facelift. At the rear, the Brio facelift gets a spoiler and a wiper/washer, a much needed feature on the Brio. While other ASEAN markets received an updated Brio with a rear wiper as early as 2013, this feature never made its way to India.

Inside, the Brio gets the new dashboard which is seen on the Honda BR-V and Honda Amaze facelift. Sporting an all-black theme, it adds automatic climate control, a Bluetooth-enabled music system and a larger instrument cluster, though it misses out on the City-derived digital MID.

t its heart, the Brio facelift continues with the 1.2-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder petrol engine capable of 88 PS and 109 Nm of torque. Unlike the Amaze which traded its 5-speed AT for a CVT, the Brio facelift for South Africa was launched with 5-speed MT and AT.

The Brio facelift could be launched in India as early as the festive season period this year. According to reports, Honda has already started working on the next-generation Brio and Amaze which are codenamed 2UA and 2UB respectively.
