Volkswagen is working on the mid-cycle update of the seventh generation VW Golf, and as per German media, it will debut in November this year.

The VW Golf Mk7’s facelift would be subtle at best, at least that’s what the exterior images suggest. Up front, the headlights are now sharper featuring C-shaped twin LED light guides, newly designed grille with an inverted V shape, redesigned foglamps and restyled front bumper featuring a full-width chrome grille. The profile seems to have remained untouched, while the rear-end has been updated with tweaked taillights. The GTI variant gets a slightly more pronounced styling.

The interior of the facelifted VW Golf hasn’t been revealed, but besides obvious updates trims and upholstery, Volkswagen is expected to add a head-up display and upgrade the analogue instrument cluster with a fully digital one. Moreover, a new infotainment system is also expected to be in the list of changes, packing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration compatibility.

Coming to possibly one of the biggest change in the facelift, the 2017 VW Golf will debut new 1.5-litre four-cylinder engines. These engines will replace the current 1.4- and 1.6-litre engines. These new engines will be offered in the second generation 2016 VW Tiguan as well. The 1.8- and 2.0-litre engines, however, may continue being offered. Transmission choices will likely continue being 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed DSG dual-clutch and 7-speed DSG dual-clutch.
