Two big car rental companies vying to take over Mauritian Avis

By the end of this week the fifty Avis employees should be fixed on the fate of their car rental company. After a tendering exercise last month, Avis Europe should decide between two major Mauritian companies to take over the company's alternative receptive White Sand Tours.

"Two major Mauritian companies have signified their interest to take The Car Company Ltd. Representatives of Avis Europe informed me that the board will decide how to proceed this week," said Anand Lutchumun to lexpress.mu.

It should be noted that the buyer of Avis Rent a Car System will have the opportunity to find agreement with Avis Europe Plc rights, as their new partner in Mauritius.

The tender for the sale of The Car Company Ltd was completed on February 18. After the branch, other subsidiary of White Sand Tours, which number about twenty and much of which is considered "dormant", will also be offered for sale.

Placed in receivership since August 2010 for financial problems, including a debt of around Rs 300 million, the White Sand Tours teaches finally found a buyer late 2010, namely New Mauritius Hotels Ltd.
