PopSUV has posted three new images of the Mazda CX-4 in daylight in the ‘Soul Red’ metallic paint. The low slung mini crossover comes with a four-bar grille, and an interested chrome applique across the tailgate.

The dashboard is inspired by the new Mazda6 featuring the MZD Connect infotainment system.

Following the first undisguised spy shots from last week that fully revealed the exterior, popsuv.com has now given an even closer and clearer look at the Mazda CX-4’s front fascia. To recap, the Mazda CX-4 (name unconfirmed) is the alleged production version of the Mazda Koeuru concept that had its world premiere at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA).

Also rumoured to be named ‘Mazda CX-6’, the Mazda Koeru’s production version keeps things mostly unchanged in the road-going specification, save for the dilution of the over-the-top concept car styling. The CX-4 or CX-6 features the latest iteration of the brand’s ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’ design theme. The front-end features the same grille design as the concept, except now the chrome tip follows into the headlamps, as with other new production Mazda models. The headlamps have been enlarged accordingly. Fog lamps have been added in the bumper and the air dam grille also has been enlarged.

The production version is more likely to be named Mazda CX-4 than Mazda CX-6, because reports say it will be a vehicle positioned between the Mazda CX-3 and Mazda CX-5 – more spacious and practical than the former and sportier than the latter.

2.0-litre SKYACTIV-G petrol and 1.5-liter SKYACTIV-D diesel are expected to be two among the few engine options to be offered globally. 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic should be the transmission choices, with front-wheel drive configuration being standard and and all-wheel drive configuration being offered in the higher grades.
