Ring Road: Jayen Chellum Says He Knows the Cause of Cracks
Cracks appeared on the asphalt and the retaining wall of the Ring Road are due to montmorillonite. So says Jayen Chellum, general secretary of the Consumers Association of Mauritius (ACIM) island.

At a press conference this Friday, March 7, he explained that he is a mineral that swells upon contact with water. This detail is not unknown to the authorities, he added, because of «le rapport EIA fait mention de la présence de la montmorillonite».

On the other hand, engineers consulted by the PMAC all say that there should not have to have to fill this route. Rather, they should make a bridge on stilts, they say.

Monitor upcoming tenders

What does that tell Jayen Chellum " or it is a criminal act or a gross negligence. How is it that no test was conducted to find out how this product will react in different climates? It is very serious that the Road Development Authority has not recommended tests . " President of ACIM says it will closely monitor future calls for tender launched by this institution.

He also requested the cessation of current road projects, the time that an audit be conducted on all work performed during the last ten years public infrastructure.
