Road Safety and Security Week To Be Held in Rodrigues
In the context of the Police Force reforms, under the National Policing Strategic Framework, the Line Barracks is organising the 6th edition of the Security and Safety week from February 29 to March 3 in Rodrigues.

The opening ceremony will take place on February 29 at the Passenger Terminal of the Sir Gaetan Duval Airport at Plaine Corail and activities will continue for a whole week.

According to Devanand Reekoye, assistant commissioner of police, the aim of organising this event is to sensitise people about several issues pertaining to security.

“Accidents on road and at sea, sexual delinquency and domestic violence have increased during the past years,” Reekoye said. “Hence, several campaigns will be held specifically targeting schools and community centres.”

The public will also have the opportunity to visit the various stands at Plaine Corail where they can clarify any doubts they have on security issues. Police public relation officer Darmarajen Mooroogan stated that a team is already in Rodrigues to supervise the event.

On March 3, a parade will start at Port Mathurin to end at Camp du Roi stadium where a cultural concert will be held. Personnel such as the Road Safety Unit (RSU), Scene of Crime Office (SOCO) and the firefighters will be present.
