Road Safety: Reducing The Number Of Fatalities, But Most Victims

85 fatal accidents were recorded on our roads since the beginning of this year against 93 cases in the same period in 2012.
However, the number of victims increased slightly: 100 people died in road accidents since the beginning of 2013 against 99 in the same period last year.These figures were provided by Ben Bentipilly, Special Advisor on Road Safety Office of the Prime Minister, Radio Plus on Wednesday, August 28. He attributes the increase in the number of victims of the tragedy of Sorèze, who killed 10 people on May 3, and another accident that resulted in several deaths.
However Bentipilly Ben is optimistic. He was convinced that the trend will decline at the end of the year. Advise on road safety is of the opinion that awareness campaigns conducted by the police and the system of penalty points, which came into force on May 10, 2013, will help to reduce the number of road accidents.
