Rodrigues: Drivers Shun Penalty Points
" Si nou pran enn masin ek li pa en bon eta, se nou sofer ki pou gagn problem avek nou lisens. Mo trouv sa pa normal»"says the driver of the Regional Assembly. From its part, police not agree." Every driver should check his vehicle before hitting the road. And if it finds that the vehicle is not in good standing, it is his duty to refuse to drive. It is his responsibility . "

The penalty points which came into force Friday, May 10, is not happy among drivers. They have to behave themselves. Now all those who drive must necessarily have their Driving Licence Counterpart (DLC) in their possession, penalty ticket.

They receive points based on offenses that are listed in their DLC. To date, only Rodrigues 7,480 drivers have recovered their DLC. A total of 18 offenses will be penalized by points from two to ten points according to their severity. And when a driver reaches 15 points, his license will be suspended the first time, for a minimum period of six months. The same rules apply to the holder of a Learner's  License who has accumulated 10 points. In case the driver or Learner accumulate the same number of points according to the case a second time, his license or Learner's license will be withdrawn.

He will then board exams to get this precious document. The same penalties apply, regardless of the type of vehicle used by the driver caught.
