MRA hopes to raise Rs 6 million

Swaraj Sunassy, Acting Section Head at Excise Department, said that these cars were entered for one of three reasons: failure to present the documents required by customs, inability of the importer to pay the costs of storage and demurrage and non-payment of rent. He says that under the Customs Act, the MRA has the power to sell the seized cars. Of the 32 cars on display include several Toyota Vitz, but also a Jaguar and a Mercedes. The sale will be spread over a period of one week.
It also returns us that other seized items, including car parts, carpets and soft drinks, will soon be sold by the MRA.
