Thanks to RushLane who have managed to snap both these SUVs testing side-by-side, we can see the exact styling differences between the two models. Where the old Grand Cherokee gets a flashy chrome grille and almost rectangular headlights sans daytime running lights (DRLs), the 2014 model gets a sharper looking headlight cluster with DRLs and the chrome is used only for the inlays of the vertical slats.
Towards the rear, the 2014 Grand Cherokee (the car in the front) gets a rectangularly shaped combination light cluster as compared to the older model’s triangularly shaped ones. Where the older model gets a chrome strip for the number plate holder, the 2014 MY does without it and instead gets the ‘Jeep’ logo.
So which Grand Cherokee is India going to get? Fiat India’s head, Nagesh Basavanhalli, told us that we would get the latest versions of the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler. As a result, we think its the 2014 Grand Cherokee that would be seen on our roads. While the initial set of Jeeps maybe imported through the CBU route, Fiat India would like to locally assemble the SUVs sooner or later.
