Suzuki Wagon R electric spotted testing in Delhi-NCR
The Suzuki Wagon R electric has been spotted testing in Gurugram. The latest sighting happens merely days after IAB reader Rajeev Kumar spied the EV undergoing testing on the Delhi-Jaipur highway.

Stickers on the rear windscreen reveal that these are the twenty-fifth and the thirtieth units of the 50 Wagon R electric cars that are undergoing road testing.

The Suzuki Wagon R electric prototypes that are being tested on the Indian roads are based on the current JDM-spec Wagon R which went on sale in February 2017. The 50 test units have been imported from Japan via the CKD route and have been assembled at the company's Gurugram-based facility. The prototypes use an electric motor that gets its juice from a 72-volt, 10.25 kWh battery.

The Suzuki Wagon R EV seen here isn't India-bound. Maruti Suzuki is using these prototypes for only testing their electric powertrain. It will use the data gathered from the testing for the validation and launch of an EV based on the next-gen Wagon R. The JDM-spec Wagon R sits on the Heartect platform and is too expensive for our market.

The Suzuki Wagon R electric vehicle made its Indian debut at the MOVE 2018 summit that was held in New Delhi in September 2018.

Suzuki Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in November 2017 for cooperation in the development of electric vehicles in India. These EVs will be sold in India and will be shared with Toyota.
