The Latest Toyota/Lexus Supercar Could Debut Tomorrow
Toyota is drumming up anticipation for a livestream debut on October 13, which we think might be the long-rumored Lexus LFR supercar that was previewed by the Sport Concept.

The automaker has been teasing a debut at Fuji Speedway – the source of Lexus' sporty "F" branding – and invoking the bygone Toyota 2000GT and Lexus LFA in the process, making us think that the next generation of flagship Japanese sports cars is right on the horizon.

A Long String Of Clues Leading To One Place
Toyota has been dropping daily breadcrumbs on a microsite for the debut. A few days ago, the clues included references to the Century brand, while yesterday, the company suggested that Fuji would be the debut site. Today, there's a signboard at the track that reads, in translated Japanese, "On the left is the 2000GT, next to it is the LFA, next door...?" That's the most prescient suggestion that we'll see the production LFR on October 13 at 1:00 pm local time – or the stroke of midnight in the Eastern time zone.

Curiously, however, the microsite sports logos for each of Toyota Motor Corporation's vehicles, including Toyota, Lexus, and Daihatsu, as well as the Century and GR sub-brands. Since Century played strongly in the clues a few days ago, we wonder if the October 13 debut will include other vehicles – like another flagship JDM luxury vehicle and/or a Toyota- and GR-branded racing version of the LFR. Finally, Daihatsu could offer some intel on its planned end-of-life celebrations for the Copen roadster, potentially even dropping clues as to the kei sports car's future.

Heading To The Japan Mobility Show
Whatever breaks cover during the livestream will also appear at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show that begins on October 30. Toyota is planning a full-court press for the auto show, including appearances by the Lexus and Daihatsu passenger car brands, Hino commercial truck group, and Denso parts supplier (which is 25 percent owned by the automaker). The debuts coming on Monday will take center stage however.

If the LFR does indeed show up on October 13, we have some idea of what to expect. The sports car enjoyed a camouflaged, Toyota-branded, dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, showing off the basso profundo of what is likely a naturally aspirated V8 – likely with hybrid assistance. The front-mounted engine should arrive in a slinky two-seat coupe form factor not unlike the Lexus Sport Concept design study from Monterey Car Week.
