Vintage cars on show at Rose Belle
After the Chinese cars expo last week, during this weekend the Vieux Moulin Commercial Centre, Rose Belle, organised a vintage car expo. The theme for the expo was titled “Volkswagen Beetle”.

The idea behind this event was to expose the people of the South to products that they don’t regularly see. The commercial centre tied up with the Volkswagen Beetle Club, Mauritius, to exhibit a few vintage cars.

Volkswagen is a car of the 60s and 70s. At the expo, the traditional 70s cars were displayed, some were completely modified, for example the wheels and engine.

Speaking to The Independent, the marketing consultant of Vieux Moulin Commercial Centre said, “Like last week, we organised the Chinese cars expo, because the perception here is that Chinese cars are not good, so to clear that we displayed the Chinese pick-up cars. This weekend, we are displaying a few vintage cars.”

The consultant also highlighted that youngsters today, at times feel ashamed to travel in old cars, and instead prefer sports cars, BMW etc. To clear that perception, the vintage cars expo has helped in sending the youngsters the message that “travelling in a vintage car is fun as well.”

Also, this was an opportunity for the youth to learn about these cars as well. The marketing consultant said, “Volkswagen is a part of the Mauritian tradition, they need to understand what the meaning of a real value car is. At the moment, only one car is on sale, we wanted to show these cars for people to have an idea.”

Apart from of the vintage car expo, Disney figures, 80s theme dance and music were also a part of the event.

Next weekend, the centre is hosting an exhibition on handicraft products, perfumes sale and bridal services.
